Operation:

The facelift incision is hidden at the edge of the cartilage at the front of the ears, runs around the earlobes, behind the back of the ears and into the hair at the back of the head. After tightening of the SMAS, a thin layer of fibrous connective tissue directly underneath the facial skin, excess skin is removed. The skin is stretched only slightly so that there will be little pull on the sutures. That allows for a better for the healing process and results in almost invisible scars.

For a so called S-lift, a very short incision is made in order to lift only the skin and the underlying tissue of the cheek region. In my modification of the ‘lipo-facelift’, excess fat of the face and neck is removed by suction and areas of the face which have lost their subcutaneous bulk are augmented with autologous fat. This produces a perfect balance of skin-tightening, SMAS-lifting and correction of the maldistribution of subcutaneous fat due to aging. The patient’s own fatty tissue is not only a filler but, as bioactive autogenous tissue, it improves the blood flow and contains stem cells that enhance the skin quality.

This elegant procedure is playing an increasingly important role in my very contemporary methods of facial surgery.
