Autologous Fat Transfer Injections
Brief Summary
- Duration of the procedure: 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the area to be treated

Indication:
- Deep nasolabial folds, i.e. creases that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth
- Frown lines (glabellar lines) between the eyebrows
- A furrowed brow
- Hollow temples
- Periorbital dark rings
- Crow’s feet
- Wrinkled upper lips
- Augmentation of the upper and lower lips (fuller lips)
- Marionette lines, sneer lines, (sagging corners of the mouth)
- All problems arising from a decrease in subcutaneous fatty tissue (e.g. hollow cheeks after HIV treatment, scars from injuries, burns, operations, or radiation treatment etc.)
- Breast enlargement for women, preferably in combination with the Brava System (See also section on Breast Enlargement)
- Pudendal labial augmentation
Operation:
Autologous fat is taken for example,from the patient’s own abdominal wall, buttocks or thighs as in liposuction. The fatty tissue which has been removed is then refined in a process we have specially adapted (a modification of the Coleman process). This processed fat from the patient’s own body is rich in stem cells and is re-injected using fine cannula.
The advantages of this treatment are that a larger area can be infiltrated. The stem cells increase the thickness of the skin and thereby smooth out the wrinkles. In addition, blood circulation is improved by the growth factors in the fat transplant, creating a fresh, rosy skin colour. The effects of an autologous fat injection usually last considerably longer than those of artificial fillers, since a considerable number of the re-injected fat cells are engrafted.
After the operation:
- Cool the area
- Wear a compression garment for 4 weeks
- Avoid make-up for 4 days
- Avoid strenuous activity such as sports for 4 weeks
